GTA 6 ending: what we know about the finale and the number of endings
What we know about the GTA 6 ending: developer comments on player choices, rumors about multiple endings, Jason and Lucia, and the disputed choice screen.

As of October 22, 2026, the GTA 6 ending has not been officially revealed. There is no confirmed number of endings or verified way to unlock them. The game has not been released. Rockstar’s Head of Development Rob Nelson has, however, told IGN and Famitsu that player decisions affect the story. His comments give us a reason to discuss consequences, but they do not identify the endings or tell us what happens to Jason and Lucia.
How many endings does GTA 6 have?
Rockstar has not given an exact number. Claims of one, two, three or four endings need to be traced to their sources. Repeating a number from a fan script does not turn it into a feature confirmed by the developer.
For example, a July EGW.News article mentions “2 to 4 endings.” It paraphrases a Reddit user who was referring to someone else’s post. The linked r/GamingLeaksAndRumours post has since been removed by moderators. In the surviving comments, its author admits the account is not their own, while readers dispute its plausibility and its resemblance to a fan script. This is a traceable rumor, not a number confirmed by Rockstar.
Another chain appeared in August, when a screenshot labeled “GTA 6: Lucia Ending Video” circulated online. EGW suggested that Lucia’s name in a separate video title might point to multiple endings. The file itself would first need to be authenticated. GamingBible separately warned that the image’s origins were disputed and that Cyberleek, the source of alleged GTA 6 leaks, had imitators. Even an authentic video title would not explain how many outcomes the game contains.
Developer interviews provide firmer ground for discussing the consequences of choices.
What Nelson said about player choices
In the full IGN interview published on October 7, the interviewer directly asked whether the game’s outcome depends on many small decisions or a few major ones. Nelson said both matter: small decisions accumulate, while certain major choices matter at the moment they are made. He did not list those decisions or give a number of endings.
That is more substantial than speculation based on trailers because a developer is describing how choices affect the story. But the answer does not confirm any specific system, such as a final menu with three buttons. We do not yet know how different the outcomes will be or which events change.
In the same interview, Nelson linked the story’s development to whether the player pays attention to the protagonists’ relationship. Famitsu adds that they can remain a romantic couple or go through the story as partners in crime. Circumstances force them to work together through much of the plot. None of this guarantees that both survive, or that rejecting romance necessarily leads to either character’s death.
Nelson also distinguishes the relationship from the criminal profile. The latter describes a character’s habitual way of acting, such as a professional approach or excessive violence. In Famitsu, he allows that excessive violence may affect the story and characters; in IGN, he connects consistent behavior to the world’s reactions and the developing narrative. This is not an announced “good” or “bad” ending scale. Rockstar has not disclosed a link between specific profiles and endings, or the thresholds for obtaining them.
Our article on Jason and Lucia’s relationship examines the relationship system in more detail. For the ending, the key distinction is that an effect on the story has been confirmed, while separate endings for each relationship state have not been announced.
Will Jason or Lucia die?
There is no confirmed answer. A promise that one of them must die goes beyond the disclosed information, as does the certainty that both can always be saved.
The idea of a tragic finale often rests on a comparison with Bonnie and Clyde. This is not merely a fan association: in a Dazed interview, Rockstar’s Senior Vice President of Narrative Rupert Humphries did describe the concept as that kind of story. The comparison describes a criminal couple and the character of their tale. It does not say GTA 6 will repeat someone else’s ending.
The structure of a previous Rockstar game proves nothing about this one, either. Comments about the consequences of choices do not automatically carry over GTA V’s ending options or Red Dead Redemption 2’s honor rules to GTA 6.
Where did the “Kill Lucia / Kill Jason” screen come from?
The image of the two protagonists aiming at each other, with an option to kill one of them, has a specific source. It comes from How GTA VI Ends, a video published by the TeaserPlay channel on December 12, 2023. In its description, the creator explicitly says they imagined this ending and made their idea in Unreal Engine 5.
At about 00:30 in the original video, the Kill Lucia and Kill Jason options appear alongside a sunset rooftop scene and the TeaserPlay mark. It is a fan concept depicting a scene invented by its creator, not a revealed GTA 6 choice interface.

TeaserPlay, How GTA VI Ends, December 12, 2023, around 00:30. Fan concept, not footage from GTA 6.
The same composition appears in a photo of a screen attached to a DTF discussion about the GTA 6 ending. Neither that post’s headline nor its more recent date changes the image’s origin. Seen without the creator’s description, the frame can easily give the false impression that the final choice is already known.
GamePro also examined the case: the outlet found the old concept in a post by an account presenting itself as Cyberleek. Every alleged leak therefore needs its own authenticity check. The existence of this fan video does not prove that every other recording is false.
Did Cyberleek show the real ending?
On October 14, Cyberleek claimed to have the ending but said they would not publish it. In a statement reproduced in full by RockstarINTEL, they called the latest clips fragments of final missions deliberately taken out of context. That is their claim about the material’s origin, not independent confirmation of where each scene falls in the game.
These are different things: a video with “ending” in its title, clips allegedly taken from late missions, and the complete conclusion shown on screen. One does not establish another. We separately covered Cyberleek’s statement that they would not publish the ending.
The title The End of the Road appeared in a series of their posts. It cannot reliably establish the name of GTA 6’s last mission; that would require confirmation of the mission title in the game itself. Speculation in discussions about an epilogue and a return to Liberty City does not establish a sequence of events either.
Can you already find out how to get a particular ending?
There is no verified guide yet. The requirements for specific endings, the point of a final decision, the option to reconsider it and what happens after the credits have not been disclosed. The primary materials examined here do not confirm an epilogue either.
Advice to pursue a romance or behave in a certain way for a promised “secret ending” currently has no verified chain of consequences behind it. Nelson’s comments explain why decisions may matter, but they do not replace a playthrough with established conditions.
For the beginning of the couple’s story, read our GTA 6 story overview. It does not reveal the ending. Nelson has described the influence of decisions on the story; Rockstar has not announced a number of endings, and the Kill Lucia / Kill Jason screen comes from a fan concept.
