GTA 6 PC system requirements: What is officially known
Are the GTA 6 PC requirements official? The current status, RAM and SSD questions, Digital Foundry estimates, and how to check your PC or laptop.

Rockstar has not published PC system requirements for GTA 6 or announced a PC version. That means no minimum specification, recommended GPU, or result for a particular computer can be confirmed yet. GTA 6 is officially announced for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026.
Information checked on October 24, 2026.
The cover and preview are editorial illustrations, not game screenshots.
Search results already contain processor and memory tables and promises of particular frame rates (FPS). To judge them, we need to distinguish Rockstar’s documents from an author’s estimate and a technical analysis of console footage. Here is what can currently be said about a future PC release.
Minimum GTA 6 PC requirements have not been announced
Neither the official GTA VI site nor the checked Rockstar support page on platforms contains a PC requirements table. The announced devices are consoles. We cover reports about a possible PC release separately in when GTA 6 might come to PC.
| PC component | What is known for GTA 6 |
|---|---|
| Processor | No minimum or recommended models have been named |
| Graphics card and video memory | No GPU or VRAM requirements have been published |
| System memory | Neither 16 GB nor 32 GB is confirmed as required |
| Operating system and graphics API | Supported PC versions of Windows, DirectX or Vulkan have not been announced |
| Storage | No PC SSD requirement, drive specification or installation size has been given |
| Resolution and frame rate | There are no official configurations for 1080p, 1440p or 4K at any FPS target |
The same uncertainty applies to recommended requirements and “Ultra” settings. A recommended specification only means something alongside its conditions: resolution, image quality, frame rate, ray tracing and upscaling. The word “recommended” alone does not promise 4K at 60 FPS. Nor can we assume that every game’s minimum specification targets exactly 1080p at 30 FPS.
What performance estimates are based on
There are grounds for technical estimates. Sony says that August’s An Extended Look was captured entirely in game on PS5. We can discuss the footage shown on a known console, although it does not demonstrate a PC version.
In its August 28 analysis, Digital Foundry observed a largely steady 30 FPS. Its analysts also noted that a 30 FPS recording cannot fully reveal the intervals at which the console itself presented frames. This is an observation from selected footage, not a test of the full game.
Digital Foundry links possible CPU limits to the density and simulation of the world. If the CPU is the bottleneck, lowering resolution alone does not remove that work. Discussing a future PC port, the analysts mentioned powerful processors, including the Ryzen 7 7800X3D and 9800X3D, as possible foundations for high frame rates. This is a forecast for a future PC version, not confirmed requirements or a GTA 6 benchmark of those processors.
The useful takeaway is that choosing a computer solely by its GPU would be premature. The analysis also does not imply that the game will fail to run without an X3D processor. Minimum hardware and a PC built for high frame rates serve different aims.

Why PS5 specifications do not translate into PC requirements
Sony lists an eight core Zen 2 processor and 16 GB of GDDR6 system memory for the base PS5. Those figures cannot be turned into the rule that an eight core CPU and 16 GB of PC RAM will be enough for GTA 6.
PS5 shares memory between its system and graphics. On a typical gaming PC with a discrete graphics card, system RAM and VRAM are counted separately. The PS5 memory figure cannot be split into two ready made PC recommendations. Matching core counts do not make different processors equivalent, either.
The footage also depends on its chosen scene, rendering resolution, graphics settings and target frame rate. We cannot assess a PC expected to deliver 4K at 60 FPS solely from the fact that the game runs on PS5. Our GTA 6 platforms guide lists all announced devices.
How much RAM is needed, and will an SSD be required?
There is no basis yet for calling 16 GB of RAM a guaranteed minimum or 32 GB a mandatory recommendation. The same applies to VRAM: having 8 or 12 GB by itself does not prove that GTA 6 will run at the desired speed and image quality. Check system RAM and discrete GPU VRAM separately. You cannot add 16 GB of RAM and 8 GB of VRAM into a single 24 GB figure to compare against one line of requirements.
There is a reason to expect fast storage: Sony explicitly says GTA 6 uses the PS5’s high speed SSD to load its world. But that describes the console version. It gives no minimum PC drive speed, DirectStorage requirement or answer on HDD installation.
Copying the requirements of older Rockstar games does not solve the problem. GTA V Legacy lists 4 GB of RAM and an HDD as its minimum. GTA V Enhanced raises that to 8 GB and requires a 105 GB SSD; its recommended specification includes 16 GB of RAM and either a desktop RTX 3060 with 8 GB of VRAM or an RX 6600 XT with 8 GB. Even these two versions of GTA V differ substantially.
For Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar lists 8 GB of RAM as the minimum, 12 GB as recommended and 150 GB on an HDD. That table does not require an SSD. The documents show why the specific game and version matter. None sets GTA 6 requirements, and an older game’s size does not establish the new game’s size.
What PC will run GTA 6, and can you check yours?
Until official specifications and tests of a finished PC version exist, nobody can give an honest verdict for an RTX 3060, RTX 4060 or another particular device. Ray tracing support, VRAM capacity and good GTA V results do not prove that a card will suit GTA 6.
For a later comparison, note your exact CPU and GPU models, RAM and VRAM amounts, storage type, screen resolution and desired FPS. You can then compare your PC with official configurations and tests at similar settings. For now, the list describes the PC you have; it does not calculate performance in a port that has yet to be announced.
In Windows, you can find the processor model and installed RAM under Settings, System, About. This gathers your PC specifications; it does not test whether GTA 6 will run.
With laptops, the complete model matters especially. NVIDIA’s official specifications list 6 GB of VRAM and a graphics power range of 60 to 115 W for the RTX 3060 Laptop GPU. The same GPU name can appear in different configurations. A desktop card and laptop version are not the same device, and comparing two laptops requires their actual specifications.
A less powerful PC can also act as a remote play client. Sony lists Remote Play support for GTA 6: the game runs on your own PS5, while another device receives the picture and sends your controls. In that case, the Remote Play app and connection requirements matter. This does not show that the same PC could run a future native GTA 6 port or that the game will be available through a cloud gaming service.
Are DLSS, FSR and mandatory ray tracing confirmed?
When comparing benchmarks, distinguish upscaling from frame generation. Upscaling reconstructs an image at the chosen output resolution from lower resolution frames. Frame generation adds intermediate frames created by an algorithm. Two claims of “4K at 60 FPS” can therefore describe different conditions; read them alongside the image processing mode.
There is no official list of graphics technologies for a PC version. We cannot promise DLSS, FSR, frame generation, or an option to disable ray tracing entirely for better performance.
Digital Foundry examines signs of ray tracing in the console footage and discusses potential PC improvements. But reflections in the game footage and an analyst’s suggestion about future DLSS are not an announcement of PC settings. Our GTA 6 graphics evolution guide looks at the footage in more detail.

By comparison, Rockstar separately announced ray tracing, DLSS and FSR for GTA V Enhanced. Check support against documents for the particular game. Features of GTA V cannot be transferred to GTA 6 simply because Rockstar makes both.
What needs to happen before choosing a PC
First, look for a PC announcement from Rockstar and official requirements with their performance conditions. Then we will need tests of the finished version using comparable CPUs and GPUs, the desired resolution, settings, ray tracing and upscaling modes. That will make it possible to judge both whether the game runs and how smoothly it plays.
Until then, building “specifically for GTA 6” is a bet on a forecast. Be particularly wary of an exact FPS promise without a test, or a requirements table that does not link to a primary Rockstar document. Even the specifications of a machine that may have run an early build would not establish minimum requirements for the finished port.
You can assess a PC against games that are already out and your current needs. There is no basis yet for guaranteeing that a purchase will suit GTA 6. Once Rockstar announces a PC version, this page can be updated with real configurations and with test results clearly identified as such.
