GTA 6 phones: what they look like, apps and features
What we know about phones in GTA 6: iFruit, Snapmatic, Waink, RydeMe, Scooter Bros, messages, banking and music, with the limits of current evidence.

Jason and Lucia will have fully featured smartphones in GTA 6, with private messages, photos, social feeds, bank accounts, vehicle services and more. The iFruit brand returns to the game’s world, but Rockstar has not announced the exact phone models used by the protagonists. Rockstar North development lead Rob Nelson discussed physical phones and their capabilities in an interview with Famitsu. YouTuber TGG, who saw the game at the studio, described individual apps and how they work.
What the phones look like and what we know about iFruit
iFruit, the game’s parody counterpart to the iPhone, retains its recognizable fruit logo. Official images show a familiar smartphone body and vertically arranged cameras. It is easy to draw comparisons with real phones even before seeing the in-game menu.
For example, Spider’s Web technology writer Albert Żurek compared some devices to the iPhone X and XS. That is a visual identification. Rockstar has neither identified them as actual Apple models nor published their specifications. Their resemblance cannot establish when the entire game takes place or which phone each protagonist will use.
Rockstar’s official An Extended Look video includes a close-up of a device on a table. Its screen shows Unknown, a call timer and a red hang-up button. This is a particular phone in a scene, not a display of Jason’s home screen. It is not enough to reconstruct the whole interface or assume everyone in Leonida, the state where the game takes place, owns the same device.

The phone becomes a physical object in the character’s hands
Nelson told Famitsu that the team made a physical phone instead of a two-dimensional screen image like the one in GTA V. Using it should feel closer to handling a real smartphone.
According to TGG, each protagonist has a phone with personal apps and subscriptions. He specifically mentions the people Lucia follows on Snapmatic. This does not mean every app must differ between the two, but the phone belongs to the selected character rather than serving only as a shared set of player commands.
Dazed describes a drive to a job: you can drive as Jason or switch to Lucia in the passenger seat and scroll through her phone. Nelson gave Famitsu the same example.

These explanations are not yet a complete set of instructions. Rockstar has not described the precise button inputs for opening the phone, whether using it pauses the game, app availability in combat or the restrictions in every mission.
Which apps have been named
TGG listed seven items he saw during the preview. They are a useful guide, but not a final list of the launch version’s apps.
| App | What we know |
|---|---|
| Snapmatic | A social feed. You can view other people’s posts; some relate to events in the world |
| Waink | Scans cars before they are stolen |
| RydeMe | A chauffeured ride service and one way to fast travel |
| Scooter Bros | Delivers a personal vehicle |
| BuckMe | Manages the bank balance |
| WhatUp | A messaging app TGG compares to WhatsApp. Its full set of features has not been revealed |
| Fitness app | According to TGG, it suggests when to work out. Its screens have not been fully described |
Famitsu also mentions a video app, but the interview does not make clear how it relates to the names on TGG’s list. It is too early to count it as a separate eighth app.
Photos for your partner and private messages
Asked about uploading your own photos, Nelson gave a fairly clear answer: you can send a photo to your partner, but you cannot publish it on social media. Jason and Lucia are in hiding, so they have no intention of telling the entire state about themselves. Private messages and public posts follow different rules here.
According to TGG’s report, the protagonists can message one another, even to say good night. Details like that add everyday life to their shared ventures. We cover the choice between romance and a business partnership in our article on Jason and Lucia’s relationship. There is no complete account yet of the consequences of every reply or missed message.
Messages can also do more than remind you of a mission. TGG saw a fence send a safe code. That is one possible way to get needed information during a robbery, not a promise that one text message will open every locked safe.

Photo sharing is confirmed, but the full camera settings, filters and photo storage options have not been shown. Photos do not by themselves establish that players can freely record video or start their own livestreams.
How the feed connects to events around you
TGG’s report includes a significant detail: some residents’ posts relate to locations you can visit and find something happening. That offers another way to notice an interesting situation, alongside map markers and chance encounters on the street. This applies to some posts, not every video in the feed becoming a mission.
Nelson gives another example involving an encounter with a man in a dumpster. If a participant in such a random event is streaming, the player may be able to see the stream too. The network offers another look at Leonida’s residents and their odd behavior.
An Extended Look shows this during a chase at around 18:24: a livestream interface appears beside the action, with chat, viewers and a prompt to watch. The video does not explain the full rules governing streams.

Waink helps assess a car before stealing it
According to TGG’s firsthand report, the Waink vehicle scanner shows a car’s security level, the tool needed to steal it, its tracker type, the cost of registering it in your name and its resale value. You get this information before deciding whether to go after the vehicle.
That changes how you choose a target. An expensive car may need a tool you do not yet have, or prove inconvenient to sell later. Nelson separately told Famitsu that some equipment and abilities unlock gradually. Finding an attractive car does not mean you can immediately make money from it.
TGG also described a specific limitation in the preview. Nelson stole a car he wanted to keep but could not register it yet. According to TGG, theft tools and some options for dealing with stolen vehicles unlock as you work with fences. The scanner displays the car’s characteristics but does not remove these restrictions.
Call a driver or get your own car back
TGG describes RydeMe as the local equivalent of Uber and one fast-travel option. You order a ride with a driver. Full fares, regional availability and restrictions in different situations have not been disclosed.
Scooter Bros handles the protagonist’s own vehicle. Nelson explicitly mentioned an app that delivers your personal car to Famitsu. According to TGG’s report, the car carries the protagonist’s entire selected weapon loadout, so calling it also restores access to that gear.
TGG’s report includes conditions that a quick summary could miss. Getting the car back costs money. If the police know the car and remain near it after a chase, you can try to retrieve it yourself. Wait too long and the vehicle ends up at the impound lot; you then face higher costs or must recover it another way. TGG did not give exact amounts.
Banking, workouts, rest and music
According to TGG, BuckMe lets you manage the money in your bank account. Cash can be deposited only at an ATM in the game world. Ways to earn money and sell loot belong to the wider topic of the game’s economy.
TGG says the fitness app suggests when the character should work out. The source does not explain how those suggestions are generated or how often they appear.
The sleep indicator comes with a separate qualification. In another video, TGG says he saw it but cannot remember precisely whether it appeared in the regular menu or a phone app. As TGG recounts it, Nelson explained that rest affects the recovery of certain attributes. Famitsu confirms that a fitness app exists, but the placement of every indicator on its screen remains an open question.
Rockstar itself described a music feature in its October 8 announcement. Jason and Lucia will be able to hear radio and podcasts in vehicles and on foot through headphones or earbuds connected to their smartphones. We have separately collected the known radio stations and podcasts. That announcement did not name a music app or announce imports of personal tracks or a playlist editor.
Features that remain undisclosed
As of October 17, 2026, the official material and firsthand reports we checked do not fully describe buying a new phone or changing its case, wallpaper or ringtone. They also do not provide detailed rules for a browser, email, the stock market or entering cheats by phone. It would be premature to carry these features over automatically from GTA V.
Charging, battery drain, damage and losing the device likewise have no clear set of rules. A physical phone in a character’s hand does not necessarily mean players will have to find an outlet.
There is also the separate question of a companion app for a real smartphone. Such a product could accompany the console game, but there has been no verified announcement of one for GTA VI. The full phone interface for a future online mode has not been revealed either. A screenshot of a fictional phone in the single-player game cannot settle either question.
